Took our 2004 Chevy Trailblazer (purchased new at Helser) in there after a "catastrophic" failure of our front transaxle (doing 35mph, in 4wd, in the snow and ice, in the mountains. Think sudden lockup of the front wheels, fishtailing all over the place. Lucky it was not in the S-curves a mile or two further or I would not be keying this...).
We got an estimate of $2900 for a rebuild on ours, or $3400 for a rebuilt one. Decided to save the $500 and have them rebuild ours. We were told it would be ready in a week, only to hear on that day that it needed another part which would come in tomorrow (Friday). Friday comes, no part till 11AM. So they said they would crank it out and have it before they closed that day. Except they did not...
Monday comes, along with another three days of rental car charges (in addition to the extra day the previous week), and they say they need another part. Tomorrow (Tuesday) for sure they say now, that is, IF the part gets here by 9am.
After all the extra car rental charges, it would have been cheaper to put the rebuilt one in off the shelf. We will see how long this rebuild job lasts, but for any warrenty work, we will be taking our business elsewhere.
We bought two new cars from these folks in the past 4 years. It is over. Along with our patronage of their "service" department. Try Growney Motors, the Other GM dealer in Red Bluff. Better service there, along with better prices.
